Today, I am very thankful for my cathedral choir family. We have our zoom meeting at our usual 11:30am call time. It was interesting to hear about what fellow singers and music teachers have been doing these past couple weeks. I appreciated the sentiment that it’s better to be 6 feet apart than 6 feel under. I also was moved by the idea that physical distancing doesn’t have to mean spiritual or personal connection distancing. A member made us chuckle that she missed Jersey city traffic. Another spoke about how loved ones with Alzheimer’s are spared from knowing about these difficult times. I learned that the passion play in Germany began after the bubonic plague in the 1600s. People from the town of Oberammergau were grateful for being spared from the plague. They began the ten year passion play tradition at that time. I am so grateful to feel seen, included, and cared for by our crew of music makers. Love and best wishes to all.
