Today I am grateful for the following:
Seeing the spirit of my dear friend Cara Shlau alive in her two boys and hearing their stories about their mom. Sam told about how Cara helped him search for his lost drone not letting him give up until they found it. Evan spoke about how Cara loved to bundle him up when she tucked him at night like a taco.
Hearing the comforting words of Psalm 23 and Psalm 121 “lift thine eyes” as I begin to process the loss of my friend.
Knowing that Cara’s family and friends really got her; a loving and kind person who was also a formidable force of nature.
Listening to the Rabbi tell Cara’s grieving boys, “Your mom could have had an operatic career or have become a cantor but she chose you. You came first.”
Watching the family hold on to each other at the gravesite and Cara’s boys tightly embrace Cara’s mom.
The amazing virtual world that allowed me to be at her service.
I can hear Cara saying it. yi•hi•ye be•se•der יהיה בסדר
Don’t worry, it will be alright.
Bye for now, my friend.
