Mom and Doris #sayinggoodbye

I am so inspired by the modern day focus on navigating our emotions healthfully. Recently, a colleague said to me “death and I are well acquainted”. They were referring to coping with the somber and increasing regularity of peers passing away.

My mom currently faces the imminent loss of a dear friend and fellow musician, Doris Kirk. They have experienced their maid and matron worlds together over the past 50 years. Now the end of life is near for the strong and fiesty Doris.

As a child watching the profiles singing group perform, I’ll never forget how enamored I was of the Andrew Sisters/tap dancing trios Doris was a part of in my mom’s women’s choir.

I am especially grateful how supportive Doris, Joy Law, and my mom’s other friends were when I came out as an adult. Their positivity and lack of judgement was so helpful to my mom.

My mom is very sad about Doris but perserving. I admire my Mom’s ability to help others especially the sick and elderly.

If you feel so inclined; any prayers and healing thoughts for Doris and my mom would be greatly appreciated. (Doris is 2nd from the right)
