WHO ARE YOU?

Potty humor trigger warning…
WHICH BELOW RESONATES WITH YOU THE MOST?
- ARE YOU SPICY?
- ARE YOU A RISK TAKER?
- ARE YOU UNCONVENTIONAL?
- ARE YOU A PARTY PERSON?
- ARE YOU DRIVEN?
- ARE YOU DETACHED?
- ARE YOU DEPRESSED?
- ARE YOU FEARFUL?
- ARE YOU ANGRY?
- ARE YOU NERVOUS?
Where does your personality fit in best with the ten characteristics from above?
When I teach voice, it’s always a hoot to engage and guide varied student energies. My pedagogical direction and vocal approach is often as good as I can vibe with the student’s general demeanor. I have personally encompassed all of these ten characteristics at some point in my life.
As a young maiden singer, I was more detached and fearful. As a matron singer, I’m often spicy and party minded. I suspect my crone era should I be granted will be predominantly fearless and unconventional (always with spice;-).
What inspired my latest akintsucrooner pontification you may not be wondering? Well I shall tell you regardless.
Today, I said to my driven, risk taking tenor that his breath connection coordination has come a long way. I asked him to describe what he’s been applying since we last worked. He said since I asked he would share.
In short, he found contact through his pelvic floor muscles in conjunction with expansion and descent of diaphragm while he was conducting number 2 in the bathroom. His words were more descriptive. Nope, I haven’t heard candor at this level in the last 30 years of teaching but ya know, whatever gets that space, energy, core, and authentically blended sound is a win in my book.
Keep calm and pelvic muscle on, indeed. Giddy up.
