Excited by the First United Church of Oak Park service today. I was welcomed along with fellow students and teachers to have our backpacks blessed for the new year. I also loved how the congregation stood in a circle around the sanctuary during the final blessing. Thanks for making music with me today Sally Sloane.❤️

Sermon thoughts that impacted me today:

1. It is important to consider whether theology and/or our personal ideologies are interfering with the caring of others; are we devoted to ideas rather than those they are intended to serve?
2. As the sabbath was set aside for all walks of life in honor of a higher power transcending self, we can see community as an integral part of our fundamental human landscape; a day is reserved for human being instead over human doing.
