singing and spirituality
Day 1 Perryman closet free insight:
Because I want to please and usually follow rules (esp when I was young,) I never considered that I might be gay. I just operated under the cultural assumption that of course I was straight and was groomed as such. I just accepted it even though it never fully fit me. As a result, much of my authentic self was cloistered until my 30s.
OK, I’m on a WUTHERING HEIGHTS deep dive ever since I was WRECKED by Heathcliff Jacob and Catherine Margot. I’ve been taking in as many as I can find. Many have annoyed me with their campiness and haven’t held my attention. From the original with a 40 year old teenager Olivier in 1939 to the weird 1970s vampire version and even wuthering high on lmn , it’s been intriguing. Wish someone would find the lost 1920s silent version. Very cool that the Richard Burton version was found. So good for 1958. Thus far these 3 are the best imho based on acting, believability, intensity, poignance, and cinematic artistry. Maybe command performer Tom Hardy’s take is the best (and with Andrew Lincoln! He’s so good) Edit: Charlotte Riley is lovely but she is not Cathy.

“Let us practice the fine art of making every work a priestly ministration. Let us believe that God is in all our simple deeds and learn to find Him there.” A.W. Tozer
I can say fairly confidently that fruit and vegetables are to good health as healthy piano and pianissimo dynamics are to singing in tune in an ensemble. Me and soft singing haven’t been the most immediate pals over the years but I have learned a lot by discovering my inner quiet. And today a collective soft singing surely helped the sand trap that is the D major rockin’ robin “twiddle deedle dee” intro. The A4 & B4 in robust chest voice is a direct off ramp for flat city. Head voice and piano dynamic comprised the magical elixir indeed. #singing #pianissimo #akintsucrooner
