As singers/performers, one of the items we always need to have ready to go is the essential black binder. In addition to our auditions and performances, you never know when you will need your music binder. I always have one with me and in my car.
Prepare below for your lesson on Wednesday October 19th.
- Black binder/non glossy or with plastic covering (my preference is the 1 inch binder.)
- Label the spine with your name and email (always good in case it is lost.)
- Make two copies of your music for this semester (one for you and one for your accompanist.)
- Make sure it is clean without missing notes and double sided. No staples. Pianists are particular and will appreciate a neat binder.
- 3 hole punch and put the music in the binder.
- Label clearly the names of the pieces either by tabs or dividers.
- If it is a 2 page song, it should open like a book; pages facing each other. There should not be a page turn.
- Make sure to keep a pencil in the binder.
- Make sure to have all cuts and starting/ends spots marked clearly if applicable.
- You may want to have a table of contents with the titles with pieces by numbers so you can easily switch them out if you need to change pieces in the folder. Feel free to be creative as long as the binder has 2 clear copies legible for the pianist. I also keep an extra headshot and resume in my binder just in case.
