Noom Curiosity #61322

Noom articles continue to intrigue…
Today’s brain bait explored curiosity and the insights of Dr. Todd Kashdan. In the curiosity realm, imma “problem solver.” Now if I could utilize my curiosity and discomfort when I’m contending with my moody elephant Pat on an inevitable rough day….that’s what I’m guessing the Noom scholars are getting at with this lesson du jour…..

Noom & Positivity Ratio #62022

Ratios, Plague Travails & The Gospel of Elsa……

By E. Perryman #akintsucrooner

“It’s never a good idea to keep both feet firmly on the ground. You’ll have trouble putting on your pants.”

I very much dig educational philosophy. It is a subject that flew off the page in college for my linearly organized, robust right leaning brain center.

Today’s Noom article focus “feeling your feelings” looked at Frederickson’s quantitative study of positivity ratio. As one who food numbs with great authority, I was intrigued by these findings.

Positivity scores clearly vary (especially during the last week of school for students and staff) but I appreciate the charge to find helping healthy coping tools.

PS: It kinda sucks when you don’t feel people-y but are in public around people being people-y….I’m sure I‘ve been the oppressive positive scud missile in the past….

Noom Nerd Tales of Storm Eating #62022

I’ve been attempting to be more mindful when I eat so yesterday was quite a hoot. I literally caught myself red handed; food handed? As I was getting into my car, I looked down at my hands. All of the snacks I had planned for my afternoon break were clenched in my hands as if someone was gonna take them if I didn’t eat them fast enough. I laughed but clearly needed to give Pat (my inner elephant) some attention yesterday. This experience inspired my storm eating artwork last night. Lol. #Noomnerd #stormeating #akintsucrooner #artsandcrafts

Noom Daily Weigh Ins: Friend or Foe? #62022

WEIGH INS
These are my Noom daily weigh ins for the last 6 months. It’s so interesting how little I care about daily weigh-ins anymore seeing how weigh fluctuates between hormones, stress, sleep, barometric pressure etc. Happy to see the downward trend. I don’t put myself down like I use to because of a stupid number. Progress not perfection. It’s a little over 30 lbs now. In the past I lost that in 6 weeks and always gained it back.

Noom Accomplishments

6.6.22

1.13.22-present

  1. WEIGH INS: Weighing myself every day since I began has made weighing myself no big deal anymore and shows me how much weight can vary depending on sleep, hormones, stress etc.
  2. ADDITION METHOD: I’ve grown a lot in my food choices by broadening my choices. I now have a lot more “go to” meals that I really enjoy.
  3. MINDING MY MIND: I’ve become more mindful of what I am eating and cognizant of my mindless habits.
  4. DINNER BELL: I’m doing better with eating when I’m hungry and stopping when I’ve reached satiety. It’s eye opening to know how much I’ve ignored hunger in the past; so many times I ate unintuitively with my various self imposed restrictive diets since middle school.
  5. SCALE AMOUNT: I am down 30 plus lbs since the height of the pandemic but it’s been gradual which has made the weight loss accessible. I used to lose it quickly and not even live in the various weights for a while. I would go from plus size to single digit and never actually made the transition in my mind/emotional landscape. I dealt a lot with dysmorphia. This distortion is starting to lift.
  6. WHITE KNUCKLE RECOVERY: I gravitate towards more low caloric dense foods now that foods aren’t labeled bad and off limits. If I don’t like something, I don’t eat it rather than eat everything because of an overly restrictive diet.
  7. “PITA” PEANUT GALLERY: I continue to work on my exposure to inevitable comments about my lifestyle changes from others. Many are supportive; not all….at least that’s what my distorted brain wants me to believe….;-)
