Voice Lesson Live Assignment 11.2.22

PERRYMAN VOICE STUDIO: REQUIRED LIVE ASSIGNMENT 

WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 2, 2022  MPC 7-9PM

ASSIGNMENT:  Your required class assignment will be live next week.  We will be doing a mock jury.  This jury is in place of your regular lesson time. This mandatory meeting will be in MPC with all of Prof. Perryman’s voice students from 7-9pm.  We will be meeting with Professor LaMotte’s studio voice students as well.

VOCAL JURY:  A vocal jury is an end of the semester performance by a voice student for a panel of voice faculty.  Students prepare 2 contrasting pieces from lessons preferably standard art song repertoire. You’ll be judged on intonation, diction, vowels, breath support, artistry, pronunciation, and overall presentation.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING:  You will present one of your pieces memorized that you will be singing for the semester jury.  You will be given a grade and constructive feedback from Professor Perryman and Professor LaMotte.  When you are not singing, you will listen to other students perform.

WHAT WILL YOU BRING:  You will need come to our class with:

  1.  Your music binder, ready for the pianist, Giovanni Longo
  2.  A completed jury sheet plus 2 copies; see example. (You list both semester pieces but will sing just one)

WHAT WILL YOU WEAR:  Dress or dress slacks/shirt (choose classic style/it shouldn’t distract.)  Your hair should be away from the face.  Wear shoes that are dressy but you are able to sing in (no gym shoes or flip flops.)
