Freedom of Speech

Shame on the people reporting each other and trying to interfere with a person’s livelihood because they didn’t react the way they were supposed to after yet another horrible shooting. Not everyone will or are able to turn the other cheek especially after all the vitriol expressed in the past. I get it. I see nothing wrong with the post below. It sadly rings true. People react differently via social media and should not be silenced for a respectful post such as below.

Singing Thru The Cracks

CRACK WHACK SERENADE
By E. Perryman 9.6.2025

Today’s voice lesson work with tenors and basses was a journey through crack which can be most definitely whack. We rotated forward/back and accessed pharyngeal space & breath flow with vocalises, challenging cantorial music, and musical theater rep perhaps not composed by a singer. Not gonna lie, as a reformed chapter 11 singer, I love the challenge of solving singing story problems with these folk…..

Shawn has 2 pushed open vowels. What lighter mechanism vowel should Shawn add and modify on an unvoiced consonant to move the breath as they navigate melodically localized C4-F4?

Cathedral ordination rehearsal #922025

Don’t mind me, I’m currently riding the high that is making music. Tonight’s rehearsal for the upcoming Episcopal Ordination of the Most Reverend Pedro Bismarck Chau, D.D. at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart included epic congregational hymns with full choir, organ, brass, and timpani. I’m not planning on an early mortal departure or intend to be macabre but I would definitely want this vibe at my funeral. God’s right hand and holy arm has won the victory, indeed. #beethoven #odetojoy #godofallgrace #musicmaking

Dreams

My most memorable back to school dream thus far was last night.

  1. Four people come to my childhood home to break in.
  2. I scare them away.
  3. They come back.
  4. Elizabeth Honer flirts with the head guy robber, caressing his face. (tooooo funny).
  5. She lets them in. They begin stealing.
  6. I chase them away down the street and call the cops (me running fast is even more funny).
  7. They find us and try to murder us.
  8. I stab 3 to death in self defense with one clean slice and Eliz stabs one.
  9. We stand soaked in blood head to toe and report our experience to the understanding cops.

I ate a piece of pizza for dinner; 3 hours before I fell asleep for those who blame dreams on food.

Huh.

Being Woke

OUR HISTORY
E. Perryman 8.25.25

In 1994, my father and I went overseas together. We had a enjoyable visit with Sifu Philipp Hackert and saw wonderful sights. We also visited Dachau. My dad became visibly upset. His reaction was to tear it all down. I said to him no, this site, along with many of the others that were much worse, must remain to pay tribute.

My dad told me later that he changed his mind when he shared his reaction with a woman at his bridge game who had been a child in the camp. She told him “Bruce, we must keep these grounds in tact as a sobering but crucial reminder.”

There are so many things that I was never taught in the 1970s/1980s about American History that I have fortunately learned in the last 20 years. Our culture is impacted positively or negatively by the seismic world events of the past. We do not exist in a vacuum; effects are systemic and long lasting.

Thank goodness for brave people and the progress we’ve made in educating the public in recent years. I remember being the one to tell my parents about Rosa Parks. It boggles my mind how much critical history has been cherry picked especially in mid 20th century. Shameful.

History continues to repeat itself when we erase these reminders out of our inability to deal with the worst of humanity. I believe we are loved unconditionally despite our malevolent human flaws. In the words of Anne Frank “I still believe, in spite of everything, that people are truly good at heart.”

Church Solo in Oak Park Illinois

Excited by the First United Church of Oak Park service today. I was welcomed along with fellow students and teachers to have our backpacks blessed for the new year. I also loved how the congregation stood in a circle around the sanctuary during the final blessing. Thanks for making music with me today Sally Sloane.❤️

Sermon thoughts that impacted me today:

  1. It is important to consider whether theology and/or our personal ideologies are interfering with the caring of others; are we devoted to ideas rather than those they are intended to serve?
  2. As the sabbath was set aside for all walks of life in honor of a higher power transcending self, we can see community as an integral part of our fundamental human landscape; a day is reserved for human being instead over human doing.

Cracker Barrel New Look

These things are true for me:

  1. I adore Cracker Barrel; the food, store, and the overall experience.
  2. One of the things I love about Cracker Barrel is the feeling I get from the original decor and rustic ambiance.
  3. I am not a Maga voter.
  4. I vote issues and the party that best matches my beliefs. I have never allowed others to shame/dictate my thoughts and I am not going to start now.
  5. Not all of the voters on the left agree with the updated sanitized version of cracker barrel. The logo is whatever but the inside looks like it was designed by Cuckoo’s nest Nurse Ratched.
  6. I will still go to CB.
  7. If you believe that one side of the political spectrum thinks exactly the same way, you have fallen prey to fake news.
